Inviting All Candidates!

Dear Candidate:

The League of Women Voters of South Central Texas invites you to join us in the important work of educating voters by providing information about your candidacy for distribution in print and online through our March 2024 Primary Election Nonpartisan Voters Guide.

With over 100 years of experience educating voters, the League has an impeccable reputation for presenting thorough and impartial election information to voters, with more and more voters utilizing our Voters Guides and VOTE411.org, the Voters Guide online version, to research candidates before they go to the polls to vote. Moreover, candidates tell us that they appreciate that VOTE411.org provides a free online vehicle for candidates to speak to voters in their own words and expand the reach of their message.

We are now contacting all candidates running for county and Texas State Representative positions in our South Central Texas area who will be on the March 2024 Primary Election ballot with this invitation and information about how to be included in the upcoming Voters Guide. The information candidates share will be available to voters 24/7 at VOTE411.org and may be distributed by our South Central Texas League in your district along with printed Voters Guides that include information on candidates running in state-wide and national races.

What do you need to do to be included in this free resource? All that is required is for you to respond to an online questionnaire, upload your photo, and answer a short list of questions about your qualifications, priorities, and positions on issues of concern to area voters by January 20. You will find specific information about what to do in the Candidate's VOTE411 Information document attached to the email you received and here on our League's website.

If you have questions about the process or need help, you can reach out to Cindy Meredith, our League's VOTE411.org coordinator, who can walk you through the steps or help you with technical issues. You can reach Cindy at vote411@lwvsouthcentraltx.org or 361-258-1192.

Voters seek information from a source they can trust. We hope you will accept our invitation to participate in this important public service to voters. We look forward to working with you to provide voters with reliable and complete candidate information this election season.

Sincerely,
Janis Richardson, President
League of Women Voters of South Central Texas

FAQ: Submitting Your Information for Inclusion in Voters Guides and VOTE411.org

How do I submit my information for inclusion in the League's Voters Guides and VOTE411.org for the coming election? Please submit your information via our VOTE411.org online form. You will find a link to this form in the email version of this invitation that you should have received. It is important that you use the webform and do not answer via email or regular mail. If you cannot locate your invitation email or have trouble with the link, don't hesitate to get in touch with Cindy Meredith, our League's VOTE411 coordinator, at vote411@lwvsouthcentraltx.org or 361-258-1192.

Who will see my information once it is published on VOTE411.org or in a printed Voters Guide? Your information will be available to all voters via VOTE411.org, the online version of the Voters Guide.

Is there any cost to me to have information about my candidacy included in VOTE411.org? No, there is no cost to you or any other candidates. The League provides this information to candidates and voters without charge as a public service.

When do I need to submit my responses? Please submit your information by January 20. You may submit or edit your responses at any time, but the sooner responses are submitted, the sooner your information will be provided to voters. Information submitted after January 20 will be available online but not included in the printed Voters Guide.

How long can my answers be? Your answers can be up to 700 characters per question (approximately 150 words). Your responses will be printed verbatim up to the character limit. The web form will count the characters and tell you when you have reached the limit.

Will you edit my responses? No. Voters will read your responses exactly as you submit them.

Can I edit my responses or add information if I did not complete my response? Yes! After you click "Submit," you can still go back to change or complete your response later.

Where will my information appear? Your information will be available on VOTE411.org and other League-sanctioned print or online resources for your district.

What should my photograph look like? You may submit a color or black-and-white "headshot" photograph for inclusion through VOTE411. Please use a closely cropped headshot and not a full-body or group shot.

Will I be in the Voters Guide or VOTE411.org even if I don't answer the questions? Your name and campaign profile information will be listed, followed by the notation: "The candidate has not yet responded." We strongly encourage you to participate, as voters are eager to see information about all candidates.

Are there other tips to make submitting information for VOTE411.org easier? Yes! As you finish each response, we recommend saving a copy of that answer on your computer. Doing so will help avoid accidental data loss due to an unreliable internet connection or a technical problem.

Who should I contact if I have questions or need help submitting information? Contact Cindy Meredith, our League's VOTE411.org coordinator, at vote411@lwvsouthcentraltx.org or 361-258-1192.
