Dear League of Women Voters Members:
We're excited to invite you to a unique workshop designed specifically for our League community. Join us for "Skills for Disagreeing Better," an afternoon of practical skill-building led by experienced Braver Angels facilitator Connie Shortes.
In our current polarized climate, the ability to engage constructively across political differences has never been more crucial. This workshop will equip you with essential tools to understand the values and concerns of those who hold different political views, while learning communication techniques focused on finding common ground rather than deepening divides.
Through guided practice and interactive exercises, you'll develop skills that will serve you well in our League work and beyond—whether you're engaging with community members, participating in candidate forums, or navigating difficult conversations with family and friends.
This workshop comes at a particularly important time as our League embraces a more activist stance through the national Unite & Rise 8.5 campaign to defend democracy. The skills we'll practice together will strengthen our ability to build bridges and create meaningful dialogue, even when tackling the most challenging issues facing our democracy.
We hope you'll join us for this valuable opportunity to enhance your communication toolkit while connecting with fellow League members committed to civil discourse and democratic engagement.
Sunday, June 22 - 2 to 5 pm
Blinn College in Shulenburg (100 Ranger Drive) - Room 120
Please call or text Janis (361-772-3228) to let us know you plan to attend. No worries if you forget to text or your plans open up, allowing you to attend - come anyway!
Looking forward to learning and growing together,
Janis Richardson & Helen Niesner
